Excellent video. The title is maybe a little off, "missed" may not be the right word in a few cases, but otherwise. Yeah.
    btw:
Thank you for pronouncing Abra's name correctly.

Flanagan was like a vascular surgeon when directing this movie; meticulously operated. Great details, Easter eggs and nods to the original/Kubrick version. A fantastic companion to The Shining indeed! Cannot wait to add to my collection and definitely one of the best King adaptations - Bravo!! 👏👏💯

What i like this movie is that they didnt make a remake of The Shining, but instead, they make a sequel of it despite the fact that it has been around almost 40 years!

Let me just say i loved watching this movie it was what a sequel should be it stands on its own. Even tho no one can touch kubrick doctor sleep was satisfying. I loved the story and also how it was filmed not copying kubrick but paying homage to certain scenes and kept the pace really steadily. I had no idea what to expect whilr feeling creeped out scared and interested. I like how they didnt film in the A24 film style these days which is also good but kept it on its own style of filmming a horror film. The only corny parts were near the ending but overall amazing

It’s a shame they couldn’t/didn’t get Jack Nicholson back to play the bartender. Some have speculated that he no longer acts because he suffers from memory loss and cannot remember lines but who knows if it’s true? Anyway I just thought it would have been an amazing cameo.

The little girl approaching a 'monster' at the lake and playing with flowers. The large electric apparatus required to power the hotel. The child's arm being torn from it's socket. All are nods to Frankenstein movies.

Doctor Sleep is the Aliens to The Shining's Alien. One of the best films of the year & one of the best King adaptations ever made. A huge surprise & an Oscar worthy effort. It even enriches & makes The Shining a better film. It overperforms in quality, it will grow in regard, & the fact that it bombed will eventually be curio footnote.

The only reason it bombed is because hardly anyone went to the movies that week. They did comparisons of attendance and box office hauls from the same week in previous years, numbers are drastically different. Every movie released that week bombed because for some reason nobody wanted to go to the theater.

I’m almost positive Danny was reading the same issue of Playgirl magazine in the scene before Dick shows up at the hospice. The only reason I paid attention to it was because of how odd a choice it seemed from the 237 documentary. It’s only visible for a few short seconds but it seems like the same magazine cover.

I haven't seen it written anywhere yet. Danny mentions in the conversation with Abra that some people have the shinning and never know about it. Danny sits with patients when they are about to die. In the last scene where he watches someone die, they release their shinning, in his last breath. Is Danny inadvertently "eating well" being with all these dying/dead people. This may may explain how powerful he has gotten and how he overcame being an alcoholic.
