Oh my god. The man who writes scary novels. Is this guy sane? Honestly I am going to try and watch this movie. I have to be honest! I have never watch any of Stephen Kings movies til the end, except for the movie with the car in it called Christine. I failed with IT movie too. lol

Just saw the movie and Ewan McGregor does a great job. Wouldn't say it was as good as The Shining, but it was well worth the price of admission. The Rose the Hat actress does a great job and is pretty stunning to look at as well.

Stephen king hates the movie “The Shining.” Fuck him, I was once a huge fan until he got political and now he won’t get one cent from me.

I love how he basically wrote Doctor Sleep to spite Kubrick. 😂 he really said "I'm about to wreck this man's whole career" about Kubrick killing off Dick.

Just watched it and it was absolutely garbage. Some of the worst writing I've experienced in a film, it actually made me laugh out loud all the way through it.

It felt cold and detached and was like watching people from a distance like ants on an ant hill I remember Stephen King saying something in that vein when he was asked about Stanley Kubrick version of the shinning and what he felt about it

It makes me sad that King, the most heart-centered and in touch with people, non-hateful writers ever is lauding a director who is just mediocre at best, judging from his past movies. He takes down a fellow super-genius like Kubrick, (not heartcentered but really genius like himself), but thinks it's fine if an average director takes all the heart and soul out of a work (This is the guy who turned Gerald's Game into a whiny, nasty rant by Gerald, when they story was really about Gerald's wife).. Why? it shouldn't be about the money at this point in his career, does he think these directors he gives support to are going to suddenly get to his league by the power of his false praise? Really, really don't get it.

Túrin Turambar Oh, I’m comparing it to king’s first book. He was so salty at Kubrick for all the changes he made. I like that they had to reference Kubrick’s movie despite King hating it. Doctor Sleep is an okay movie by itself, but I will be treating it like the Cursed Child compared to the original HP books... that is, I will pretend that it never happened.

    • Túrin Turambar
      Túrin Turambar 13 күн бұрын

lmfao you guys keep comparing it when you need to put the comparison aside- yes it’s a sequel but it tries to combine both elements from book & movie; and it does its own different thing not just trying to imitate what kubrick’s film did (that would be a waste)

I agree with what he said in comparison of the movie and the book. In the Kubrick film, Jack and Danny never have loving moments. It’s as if Jack regrets having a child. When he snaps, you don’t really see the change.
In the book, Jack and Danny are best friends. They truly love each other. It almost breaks your heart when Jack starts to turn on him.

He also features as the bad guy in eyes of the dragon Randall Flagg who is the bad guy in the stand that takes time and effort to work out I have and will always the writing of MR KING.!

Just finished the book. It’ll be interesting to see how the film adapts certain elements (especially if it’s both an adaptation of the book AND a sequel to the Kubrick film).
