@Earl Martin Can't say I "liked" the Shining at all. But I was a lot younger when I saw it. Great movie, of course.
This one, though, I found I was more engrossed with. Wow!

@William Healy yes it chapter 2 was ruined and they threw a joke every 30 seconds so there wasn't any suspense in the movie. I kinda knew this would be great too because The Haunting of Hill House is probably my favourite netflix (mini-)series and it didn't have any crap humor or jump scares.

Previous month I managed to receive my first five figure paycheck ever!!! I've been working for this provider on the internet for 24 months now and I never been happier... They are paying me $95 per hour, and the best thing about it is that I am not that tech-savvy, they only asked for basic knowledge of internet and basic typing skill...Great thing about this job is that I have more time for my family. I am able to commit quality time with my relatives and buddies and look after my children and also going on holiday vacation along with them very routinely. Don't neglect this chance and make sure to act rapidly. Let me show you what I do... *grab26.com*

@Alysandir No. The hotel is there. This movie is the sequel of the MOVIE The Shining, so the hotel is still there.

Well, in the Doctor Sleep book, it isn't, because it blew up in the (book) Shining. So my guess would be that it exists only in Danny's mind and that Abra and Rose the Hat are also in his noggin. Might also explain why an abandoned hotel still has working lights...

I’m so glad that Stephen King gave his blessing to incorporate elements of Stanley Kubrick’s vision into this movie without compromising the novel. 🎩

@Robert Piekosz I saw the movie last night. It's worth a watch.
But, if you're a purist it-has-to-match-the-book-exactly type, then perhaps it's not for you.
But then, if you're being consistent, you've can't have watched any movie based on a novel, ever. None of them match the book.

    • Robert Piekosz
      Robert Piekosz 12 күн бұрын

The novel is totally compromised by the hotel being "closed down" instead of blowing up.
They are just trying to cash in on Kubrick's film.
Which was a good scary film, but a poor version of King's masterpiece novel.
I have zero desire to see this.
      Just reread the book.
It's a Perfect sequel to his original novel

dhmig88 Warner owns the original Kubrick version, and bought the rights to Sleep. King’s got no say in anything to do with it.

Is there a Stephen King movie where gay people are not victims or evil? The evil woman in this one is a lesbian. Is there a definite LGBT hero(ine) in any others? I mean a definite one. No speculation, please.

I somewhat assumed that the Older Lady in "The Mist" (the one who leaves in the truck with the Dad and Son) was a lesbian whose partner commits suicide in the grocery store. Maybe that's a leap, but that was how I took it. And she was pretty heroic throughout that movie.

To brutally honest I never read the book.
I knew Stanley Kubrick took liberties with Stephen King's book.
It seems however that in long run it was for the best.
By the way the director went to Stephen King for his blessing before shooting the sequel book Doctor Sleep.
So it seems that it's a hybrid permutation of both the book and movie understanding that the general public maybe more familiar with the movie than books.
