‘I sacrificed my talent’ playing with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward - Terry Rozier | First Take

  • Жарияланды 2019 ж. 14 Мам.
  • Terry Rozier says he was playing in the shadows of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward all season for the Boston Celtics and felt "thrown all the way in the back seat" when Kyrie announced that he would stay with the Celtics if welcomed back.

Man I would say the same thing I feel like they didnt know they was on the same team that's really the coaches and top management an owner's fault for not making it clear to the players what two goals were and to make sure that they were all in it and understood what they were trying to accomplish this year which was a championship

I can see the issue...is Kyrie better ...yes but his game is dribble iso and with Terry he’s more so team PG and everyone is involved. Sucks it didn’t work but you live and you learn. But When you have a Super Star and a lot of Star players you’re gonna have your work cut out

What a joke... what makes him a top PG in the league? He’s done nothing, absolutely nothing, but shoot and score a little more in extended minutes due to injury. He wasn’t playing more because he was better than guys in front of him, and talking in 3rd person doesn’t nothing to change that.
He comes across as a guy who’s jealous of the success, and opportunities of others. How weak is it to count the pockets of another man? Both Hayward and Irving, have ACCOMPLISHED more than Rozier, far more, it isn’t even close. Both also were on ROOKIE CONTRACTS, they PAID their due, and EARNED their extensions. He’s not even a starter.
It’s funny how he attempts to drag Tatum, and Brown, into his misery. BOS traded for Irving while you were here, they UPGRADED the position. Did you think they were bringing him here to be your backup? BOS turned their roster over, when Irving came here, only ONE starter remained, Horford, and Smart, Brown, and Rozier, were the only holdovers. So too hear that idiot Kellerman, say they were a loaded team, was asinine.
Who and what they were, or could be, was UNKNOWN. Irving LED THEM. Hayward was their prizes FA signing, and was lost on Opening Night, and Irving LED that team. He missed the playoffs, but if he was healthy, they BEAT CLE. Rozier is a 7.7 PPG 2.3 AST 3.6 REB .380 FG% in 272 GMS. Nothing about that shit says top PG. His BEST year, was his first year with Irving, and his numbers last year, weren’t much different. So I’m really confused with what he’s talking about. He scored 16 PPG on 14 FGA during last years playoffs, what’s impressive about that? He turned down $12 MIL per, bet on himself, and in this postseason, his carriage turned back into a pumpkin, and it’s everyone else’s fault.
He must be represented by Klutch Sports 🤣🤣🤣

“When it’s not broke don’t go attempting to fix it “ It would have been better to trade kyrie and Heyward last year and get some pieces around Rozier, Brown , Tatum.. I mean they did make through the season, got to the conference finals without “the stars” . Same thing for KD, golden state does not, “do not” , never did need Durant. He needed them and it’s showing. Back to this, Not a good look for Rozier to take this interview. Ijs

If you can ball.. You learn how to play with other peoples talents and still find your way to shine. Look at the warriors. They got a dominant first and second squad. You don't see Klay coming on to ESPN and complaining about not having the spotlight on him at all times. He plays his position and shines when he needs to. Same thing with Steph and KD. That's what a real team does. Just sayin

All he did was state facts .. hes a starter level pg in the nba. Hes not a back up pg and to be honest he fits the Celtics better than kyrie does..also Hayward should not have been brought back so fast and given so much time on the floor.. I feel like next year Hayward will reemerge..the team however needs balance so let kyrie walk...keep hayward, tatum brown, rozier and add shooting...this isnt the golden state warriors were guys are willing to sacrifice for others every night..the celtics had to much ball dominant talent this season. they need guys like jj reddick, terrence ross, vucevic.

Wow, this team is dysfunctional. Contrast this to the way the Bucks speak of each other; as a family, as brothers, as people who have each other's backs. The other night, when Brook Lopez outscored Giannis, Giannis described him as "...the Brook we all know and we all love.".
Never underestimate the power of brotherhood, of hanging out with each other as friends off the court, of being a family. The Celtics simply don't have that, and it makes a difference.

Reviewing the comments. It seems like some people genuinely believe TR appeared on this show to solely and immediately criticize his team-mates. TR, Max and SAS talk about a variety of topics and TR is asked his opinion about himself and others. In terms of sacrificing his talent, he did not talk about this in an unprompted way like he was there to put out an unsolicited statement. He simply gave honest answers to questions people asked him. Is he not allowed to answer questions? (or answer them as honestly as he can plus provide a personal perspective). If everyone else is allowed an opinion i.e. fans, journalists, youtubers, kyrie etc is there any reason why TR should or shouldn't say anything truthfully in response to a question? There's a lot of noise and competition for attention in the NBA. People have been watching players like Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Pat Connaughton, Landry Shamet, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Derrick White and even guys like Alex Caruso play some quality games and quality minutes over the last few months. Some players who have not been doing so great but have the talent / skill to offer a lot to the sport may need to sometimes speak-up and defend their lack of production so their stock doesn't deflate too drastically. I hope he doesn't receive any more negativity or hostility for expressing an honest and interesting opinion.
